Hi guys: today I will talk about a video of Geoff Lawton. In this video, called “7 food forests in 7 minutes”, Geoff talks about the Permaculture and presents a series of food forests that had been planted at Zaytuna farm over successive years.
In this video he explains the topics of the Permaculture, which is very associated with the interaction between food and forestry. In it Geoff starts talking about the importance of soil conditioners rich in organic matter and how they facilitate the germination and rooting of plants.
Initially, seedlings are not very good at capturing the nutrients provided for organic matter present in the soil, so they need to be associated with microorganisms, such as Rhizobium bacteria, that facilitate the process of fixing. So, with the help of these bacteria, the seedlings can grow and develop faster, forming trees each week, given the abundance of nutrients in the substrate. Once finished the process, soils richer in organic matter are achieved, thanks to the new contributions from the trees.
I believe that's possible in Chile. So I say to all households in urban, peri-urban and rural areas, that start to implementing these systems of permaculture, Now!... I think that... if I had land I would be doing it! Of course.
See you later!
